I Confessed Under Duress – Baba Ijesha

NOLLYWOOD actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has disowned the confession attributing him to the charge bordering on sexual offences. Information Guide Nigeria

According to NIGERIAN TRIBUNE, Baba Ijesha said he was forced to sign the statement after thugs beat, tortured him, and forced him to sit on the floor and sign the statement to admit to the sexual offence.

He disclosed this during a trial-within-trial before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Special Court, Ikeja, Lagos State.

“My cloth was torn. I was forced to sit on the ground. My body was shaking. They showed me the statement. I did not volunteer the statement. I was just asked to sign it. Princess dictated everything to them,”

According to NIIGERIA TRIBUNE, the Baba Ijesha claimed that everything in the statement was dictated to the police by the complainant, a comedienne, Ms Damilola Adekola a.k.a. Princess.

NIGERIAN TRIBUNE reports that the Investigating Police Officer (IPO), Inspector Oname Abigail, arrived at Princess’ house on the same day he was arrested adding that the complainant arranged some boys to beat him inside a room before allowing Inspector Abigail to meet with him.

Baba Ijesha revealed that when he was led outside, another set of boys came and beat him before he was rescued by police officers who took him on a bike to Sabo Divisional Police Headquarters and locked him up in a cell.

According to NIGERIAN TRIBUNE, he added that he does not know the current residence of the complainant but is only aware of his former residence.

However, the police representative insisted that Baba Ijesha voluntarily made the confession statement and approved the statement when it was read to him.

According to inspector Abigail she read cautionary words to Baba Ijesha and he affirmed that he understood English and everything she read to him. Jamb Result

NIGERIAN TRIBUNE reports that Baba Ijesha who has pleaded not guilty to the charge is faced with a sixcount charge bordering on allegations of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by penetration.
