Lagos Govt, Police Visit Dowen College Over Death Of Student
Officials of the Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance have visited Dowen College, the school that Sylvester Oromoni was allegedly beaten to death for refusing to join cult group.
According to PREMIUM TIMES, reporter also visited the school on Thursday and found out that an officer from the Maroko police station, Clement Ekere, was also at the school to invite the management for questioning at the police station. Information Guide Nigeria

Meanwhile, many parents and guardians also visited the school on Thursday to check on their wards, even as they refused to comment on the matter. jamb results
The school officials also refused to speak with our reporter on the matter, and also barred the reporter from joining the government team that was conducted around the school compound. PREMIUM TIMES reports.
But late Thursday evening, new video clips of the deceased who was visibly writhing in pain, surfaced on social media, with his parents raining curses on those they accused of inflicting injuries on their child.
While the reporter was barred from joining the team of the state’s officials who visited the school on a tour, this newspaper can confirm that these officials toured the school compound on Thursday.
After the inspectors were conducted around the school, the team refused to speak with our reporter.
Meanwhile, on Friday the state’s ministry of education issued a statement to console the bereaved family and pledged its commitment to unravel the mystery surrounding the boy’s demise.
The statement, which was signed by Ganiu Lawal, an assistant director, public affairs unit of the ministry, noted that preliminary findings have shown that the deceased was a student of the school and that efforts are in place to get to the root of the matter.
Part of the statement reads: “The State Government is in touch with the parents in this difficult time.
“We reassure the family of the late Sylvester Oromoni Junior and Lagosians at large that efforts are being made to unravel the circumstances leading to his demise, even as we reiterate the Government’s commitment to Child Protection.”
