Things you should know about your unique 11 digital NIN

  1. The National Identification Number (NIN) is made of 11 non-intelligible numbers that are usually randomly chosen and assigned to an individual who has completed the enrolment into the National Identity Database (NIDB)Npower recruitment
  2. Once a NIN has been assigned to any individual, it cannot be reassigned to another, even in the case of death, making it unique to that individual alone—much like your fingerprints.
  3. In the case of death, the NIN is removed from the database once a death certificate has been presented to the commission and the person’s death has been established.
  4. Your NIN is used to tie all your records in the database and it’s also used to verify your identity.
  5. All legal residents and citizens in Nigeria, from the age of zero, are eligible and can enrol to get their NINs.
  6. Your NIN is a very important document and should be guarded and protected like every other document you value. You should not give out your NIN to every and anyone who requests them. Only make exceptions when they are required by relevant authorities.
