Nnamdi Kanu: Igbos have accepted Tinubu as President — Ohanaeze

Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, has publicly stated that the Igbo community has recognized President Bola Tinubu as the constitutionally elected leader of Nigeria. This declaration came during an interview with Arise Television on Sunday, as reported by The PUNCH.

In the same statement, Iwuanyanwu also appealed for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the now-outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).JAMB Portal

Kanu’s detention has been a point of contention, with IPOB branding it as unconstitutional” and advocating for self-determination, a principle they argue is backed by United Nations laws and the Africa Union Charter. They have been calling for a referendum to address their grievances.informationguidenigeria

Iwuanyanwu, in his role as the head of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, indicated that his stance is based on consultations with other members of the Igbo community. According to him, there is a general consensus among the Igbos regarding Tinubu’s presidency and the belief that he could play a crucial role in facilitating Kanu’s release.

He said, “I, as a leader of Igbos, after consultation with my people, we all agree that there was no reason why Nnamdi Kanu should be incarcerated, no reason why he should be detained.NYSC Portal
