We will begin this article by defining the word, ‘scholarship’. What then is a Scholarship? A scholarship can be defined as a grant or it can be money that is being given to students of post-primary school or tertiary institutions as support in order to help them pay their school bills.

However, without being known by many Nigerian students,  there are quite a number of scholarship opportunities available for post primary school students, undergraduate students as well as, postgraduate students, who are studying in Nigeria. Hence in this article, I will discuss about 20 of such scholarship opportunities available for Nigerian students to apply in 2019.

1. Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Scholarship

This Nigerian LNG company is one of the companies in Nigeria that gives scholarships to Nigerian students. The scholarship is usually awarded to students studying in different Nigerian tertiary institutions who are suitable for it and, who also deserve it every year.. Level is 100 level, while the worth is about N300,000 every year through graduation.

2. Agbami Scholarship

This is another scholarship opportunities available, which is worth mentioning in this article, it is called, the Agbami scholarship.

This scholarship is sponsored by Chevron Nigeria together with Agbami partners. The scholarship is only for medical students and engineering students in different universities. Level is 100 and 200 levels, while worth is N200,000 and also N100,000.

3.  PTDF Scholarships Programme (Nigeria and Oversea)

Another scholarship opportunities available for Nigerian students is the PTDF Scholarship programme. The PTDF programme usually covers both Nigerian universities and universities that are outside the country.

It is the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources that offers the “PTDF Scholarship Scheme” to Nigerians, who are qualified Undergraduates, and Masters, and Ph.D. students. The worth of this scholarship is about 150,000, including a brand new laptop.

4. Federal Government Scholarship

Another wonderful scholarship opportunities available for Nigerian students, and it is offered by the Federal Government via the Education Ministry.

This is what the Nigeria government is doing to the Nigerian students studying in different Tertiary Institutions to Postgraduate, and Undergraduate, and HND as well as NCE students. Worth is about N150,000 for University students, while NCE students get N100,000.

5. MTN Scholarship

This is the MTN scholarship programme for 2019. MTN awards scholarship opportunities to Nigerian students as part of her corporate social responsibility, the MTN, for the most part, awards different scholarships to undergraduate students studying both science and technology courses in different Nigerian universities within the country. The worth is N200,000 through graduation. Starts with thr Level: 200 students.

6. Nnpc/chevron Scholarship

Perhaps, you have heard of the Chevron/NNPC scholarship opportunities programme for Nigerian students. Chevron usually collaborate with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company to award a lot of national scholarships to Nigerian undergraduate students every year. The worth is ₦100,000 every year through graduation, and it start with Level 200.

7. Nnpc/Total E & P Scholarship

This is another scholarship programme, where the Nigeria National Petroleum Company, NNPC collaborate with the Total E&P to offer scholarship grants to the students who are from Nigeria.

The two oil and gas companies usually collaborate to award different merit scholarships to Nigerian students, who study in various Nigerian universities. The worth is ₦150,000 each year through graduation. Start from 100 and 200 levels.

8. Jim Ovia Foundation Scholarship

Jim Ovia owns Zenith Bank Plc. As a philanthropy, he awards hundreds of scholarships to Nigerian undergraduate students who study in various parts of Nigeria. The Worth is ₦150, 000 each year through graduation. Level is all levels.

9. Nnpc/Addax Scholarship

This NNPC has also collaborated with another company to award scholarships to students from Nigeria. It is through joint venture with addax petroleum. The Worth is ₦100,000 each year through graduation, from Level: 100L.

10. Exxon Mobil Scholarship

Another Oil company scholarship opportunities programme for Nigerian students by way of fulfilling its corporate social responsibility to Nigerians. The Worth is ₦75,000 each year through graduation, from 100 and 200 levels.

11. Shell (SPDC) Scholarship

This is another scholarship programme called the Shell scholarship scheme. The Shell petroleum development company is partnering with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) to give national scholarships to undergraduate students every year in Nigeria. The Worth is N100,000 each year through graduation, from 100Level

13. Nnpc/Snepco Scholarship

This is another Oil company that is collaborating NNPC to offer scholarships to students fromNigeria. The Worth is ₦150,000 each year through graduation, from 200Level.

This scholarship programme is sponsored by late legal Icon, who was known and called. Gani Fawehinmi SAN. It is a scholarship awarded in his honor and memory. The Worth is ₦100,000 each year at all levels through graduation.
