As I mentioned earlier, Federal universities in Nigeria are the most affordable. They are characterised by low tuition fees, low to minimal levels of extortion and corruption. One reason why the school fees in Federal universities are low is that the Federal Government is subsidising tuition fees thus making them almost free for students.

Apart from low school fees, students who graduated from Federal Universities in Nigeria tend to get some respect over those who attended private schools.

Because of these advantages, admissions into Federal Universities in Nigeria becomes very competitive.

Like other universities, admission into first degree programmes in Federal Universities is done through Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB.

JAMB conducts Unified Tertiary Matriculation Exam (UTME) to determine the ranking eligibility for admission. Candidates need to score high in UTME to stand a chance of getting admission.

After the UTME, some federal universities do conduct post-utme exams to screen the candidates and select eligible ones for admission after also considering their O’Level results (WASSCE,_NECO, NABTEB). jamb result checker

Federal universities also admit students into various programmes via direct entry. Direct entry admission is for students who have at least A’level certification, OND, NCE, HND or degree.

Federal universities in Nigeria also offer various postgraduate programmes and award different kinds training and certifications. The aim of Federal Universities is to provide trained manpower to improve the Nigerian economy.
