b. Glycerin: Glycerin is the ingredient that keeps your hair quite de-tangled even when it has become wet.

c. Lanolin

e. Camphor (Industrial Camphor)

f. Menthol or Peppermint

g. Vitamin E

h. Paraffin Oil

These various ingredients have their different properties and essential functions to the hair, reason why they are used in making hair creams.

When your hair is wet or while you’re combing it, it is the junction of the glycerin to keep it de-tangled. The paraffin wax is a byproduct of the distillation of petroleum and is an ever-present ingredient in making of cosmetics especially hair essentials, polish and candles.

Lanolin is obtained from sheep – their sebaceous glands or their wool. Lanolin either holds water from escaping from the hair or keeps too much water from entering the hair. Great moisturizer.

These ingredients are assembled in different proportions and for the effectiveness of the product, the right proportion of the ingredients must be used.

Here are the right proportions of the ingredients to be used in making hair cream if you are making it for personal use.

Note: Making hair cream for commercial purposes means you may have to get more of the ingredients listed here.

a. 1 tablespoon of lanolin

b. A small amount (about half a cup) of paraffin wax

c. 3 tablespoons of Vitamin E

d. 3 tablespoons of industrial camphor

e. 2 tablespoons of glycerin

f. 2 tablespoons of Peppermint or Menthol

g. 1 ½ cooking spoons of petroleum jelly

h. 2 ½ cooking spoons of paraffin oil

Note: You may want to add perfume and color. You can add the perfume as much as you desire and the color might be optional, but you shouldn’t add more than ½ tablespoon.

The process of producing hair cream in Nigeria

a. Firstly, you have to get a clean and dry pot and put it on the fire.

b. After a few seconds, pour the paraffin oil and the petroleum jelly into the pot on the fire. Wait for a few minutes and allow the mixture to melt and blend well.

c. After the mixture has blended, add paraffin wax and lanolin

d. After about 2 minutes, add the glycerin and vitamin E

e. After about a minute, put off the fire and allow the mixture to cool for about 4 minutes

f. After the stipulated 4 minutes, add the other ingredients like the menthol or peppermint, fragrance, industrial camphor, and color. After adding these, you can allow the mixture to cool.

g. Scoop some of the solutions and put in a sterilized container with a tight lid and keep it overnight to allow the contents to settle.

You can go ahead and use your hair cream or sell it if you want.

Additionally, if you want to improve the quality of the hair cream, you can add ingredients that are good hair food, like:

a. Aloe Vera Gel

b. Shea butter

c. Coconut oil or

d. Jojoba oil
