What to do after retrieving your NIN without a phone number?

Always remember that your NIN is your identity and all the information about you is tied to it. So just like every other important document you possess, your NIN slip or NIN number should be protected or guarded.

In the case of a missing or stolen SIM, your NIN could be retrieved by fraudulent individuals when they dial *346# and it can be used to commit crimes or do things you didn’t authorize.

So, how can you protect yourself from such things? It’s simple, change the missing number linked to your NIN. To do that, you’ll have to pay a sum of NGN 500 via Remita for a change of phone number and carry along the proof or evidence of payment together with the following documents:JAMB form

  • A recent police report
  • The original copy of the NIN slip that was issued to you after your initial registration. Here, you can submit the reprinted NIN you just collected without your phone number.
  • An application letter that has been duly signed by you for the change in the data field you want to modify (in this case, phone number), stating the reason for the modification as well.JAMB Result

Once you do this, your NIN will be updated and protected. Because you now have access to the SIM (updated SIM) linked to your NIN.
