MTN, Airtel, 9Mobile and Glo are the four major networks in Nigeria with different means of transferring airtime. In airtime transfer, you can transfer part or all of the balance airtime in your prepaid account to another prepaid account without troubling yourself with an instant expenditure.
MTN has Share ‘n’ Sell, 9Mobile has Easy Airtime Transfer, while Airtel and Glo use Me2U. Other recharge options include online top-up, ATM, VTU, and recharge cards.
The convenience of transferring airtime credit is that you don’t have to stress yourself going to look for a recharge card and inputting the long Recharge PIN before sending it to the recipient.

MTN Share and Sell
MTN Share and Sell is a credit-transfer service that allows you to send credit from your prepaid MTN account to another MTN customer’s prepaid account, using SMS or USSD. MTN
Share and Sell is provided by MTN Nigeria to help Nigerians in transferring airtime credit to their family members, relatives, friends, colleagues, business associates, and more.
How to Set up MTN Nigeria Share and Sell
There is a default password of 0000 that protects MTN Share and Sell, and it is strongly advised to change the password before using the service to avoid intrusion by a third party.
How to Change Your MTN Share and Sell Password
To change your MTN Share and Sell Password, you have to send an SMS command to 777. For example, to change your PIN to 3745, simply compose a text like this, “0000 3745 3745” and send it to 777.
You can also change your PIN using USSD like this: Dial *601*0000*3745*3745#Send/Ok.
To confirm the success of the task you’ve performed, a message will be sent to you informing you that your PIN was changed successfully.
How to Transfer Credit on MTN Network MTN Share and Sell
Assuming you want to transfer N500 to 07035684867 and your password is 3745; simply compose “Transfer 07035684867 500 3745” and send to 777.
In a few seconds, you will receive a notification asking you to confirm the transaction. What to do to confirm the transaction is to send “Yes” to 777.
You can also transfer credit using USSD like this: *600*07035684867*500*3745#. After successful transferring of the credit has been completed, you will receive a message informing you that the transfer was successful.
The minimum amount to transfer is N50, while the maximum transfer per transaction is N5,000. A collective amount of N10,000 can be transferred per day.
Airtel Nigeria developed Airtel Me2U to allow their subscribers transfer airtime to another Airtel subscriber.
How to Set up Airtel Me2U
I advise that you change the default PIN which is 1234 to steer clear of illegal transfer of airtime from your account.
How to Change Your Me2U
For you to have your Me2U password changed, you will need to first send an SMS command to 432.
To change your Me2U password, compose text in this form: “PIN 1234 3745” (please don’t put quotes when sending this message). You should understand that your default password is 1234 while 3745 is the new password you want to change to.
After you have sent “PIN 1234 3745” to 432, you will receive a notification that says, “Your new password is 3745”.
How to Transfer Calling Credit on Airtel Network
Let’s assume you want to transfer N500 worth of airtime to 08027852352, just SMS “2u 08027852352 500 4242” to 432, where 7892 is your new password. A notification will be sent to the Airtel beneficiary that their account has been credited with the relevant amount of airtime from your number. You will also get notification of the success of the transfer.
9Mobile Easy Airtime Transfer Service
Subscribers on the 9Mobile network can use 9Mobile Easy Airtime Transfer to transfer airtime from the existing credit on their prepaid account to another prepaid account.
How to Set up the 9Mobile Easy Airtime Transfer Service
With the default password as 0000, activation of 9Mobile Easy Airtime Service involves completing a USSD command. To change yours, simply dial: *247*0000*New Password# Send/Ok.
For instance, to change your PIN to 4957, put in *247*0000*4957# Send/Ok. This password will also help you to protect your transactions and special services like call barring.
How to Transfer Credit on 9Mobile Network
Using the USSD command is the easy way to transfer credit on 9Mobile. To transfer N500 to subscriber 08095783407, key in *2223*2345*500*08095783407# and press Send/Ok.
Glo Nigeria Me2U
Glo Me2U is just another recharge option that allows you to transfer airtime to another Glo subscriber. If you are one of those who think that Glo Me2U airtime transfer service is no more working, you’d better think again because Glo Me2U airtime transfer service is still working well.
How to Set up Glo Me2U
First time users need to activate this service on their line before they can move on with the service. Activation of Glo Me2U requires that you dial *132*00000*New Pin *the PIN again# on your phone. If you don’t want to use the default Glo Me2U password which is 00000, you can use any other one of your choice.
For example, if you want to use ‘31314’ as PIN, you are required to dial, *132*00000*31314*31314#.
You will receive a notification asking you to confirm the PIN on your phone. Press 1 to accept or 2 to cancel. After pressing 1 you will be informed that your password was changed successfully. You can now begin to transfer airtime.
How to Transfer Airtime Credit on Glo Nigeria Network
Use the USSD command, *131*Glo Number*Airtime Amount*Password# Send/Ok to transfer airtime. For instance, to send N200 to subscriber 08054768549, simply put in *131* 08054768549*200*31314# and Send/Ok, that is when 31314 is your password.
