How to Write NYSC Permission Letter With Samples

Every Corps member is entitled to two weeks leave, which can be taken once (two weeks), or twice (one-week). The NYSC leave is created to allow corps members gather the necessary supplies they would need for that national assignment at their Place of Primary Assignment. So once you’ve completed your 21days at the NYSC orientation camp, you can write a permission letter to the NYSC board to allow you to leave the camp for either one week, or two weeks.Information Guide Nigeria

However, you’ll need to know how to construct a proper permission letter for it to be approved. Keep in mind that, you’re now a graduate, and with that in mind, the NYSC board will not approve any poorly written letter. Why do I need to write a leave letter?

The NYSC leave letter is mandatory if you wish to travel anywhere after your orientation course at the NYSC camp. The NYSC leave letter must be written to the NYSC state coordinator; through your Zonal Inspector; through your local government inspector; and through the head officer/employer at your place of primary assignment. These offices must approve of your leave letter before you can embark on your travel. There are two types of eave you can apply for, they include:

  2. Two weeks leave

Corps members are allowed to apply for a maximum of 2 weeks leave during their one year service. So the decision is yours if you wish to apply once or utilize the leave twice.

For example, if you apply for a one week leave, you still have the option of applying for another one week leave. However, if you apply for two weeks leave, then the NYSC board will no longer approve any leave for you.

How to Write and Submit your NYSC Leave Letter

To apply for NYSC leave, you must first complete the 21 day course at the orientation camp. Upon successful completion of the orientation course in camp, the NYSC state coordinator will post you to your Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) where you will serve the remainder of the year.

To apply for the NYSC leave, report to your PPA and your Local Government Inspector (LGI) for documentation. After getting accepted by your PPA, write a leave letter for either two weeks or one week and submit the letter to your LGI together with your acceptance note from your PPA.15 Best States to Marry in Nigeria and Why?

If your leave letter is written properly, your application for leave will be granted. However, if the letter is written poorly, then your LGI won’t approve of you to travel. Hence, it is important that you know how to properly write the NYSC leave letter.

Important Information About the NYSC Leave Letter

When applying for the NYSC leave, take note of the following:

  1. Do not travel immediately after submitting your leave letter. You are expected to wait until your application is approved.JAMB Form
  2. Ensure that you have completed your NYSC documentation at your PPA before submitting your application letter.
  3. The leave application letter must be submitted to the NYSC state coordinator in your state of deployment, through your local government inspector or zonal inspector.
  4. Do not stay more than the allocated period during your leave.
