Center for Advocacy, Transparency and Accountability Initiative (CATAI) was established in 2018 as registered NGO with a Head Office in Maiduguri – Borno State, with offices across Yobe and Adamawa states. We have been visible in Borno Adamawa and Yobe states implementing projects in Education, Protection (Child /GBV), WaSH, Nutrition, Empowerment/Livelihood, Governance, and Peace Building. Our approach is aligned with our mission to enhance service delivery and empower citizens, through our Humanitarian, Development, and peace-building nexus (HDP).

We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:

1.) Finance Officer

Location: Borno

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to the Finance Manager.
  • Works closely with the Project Managers
  • Ensure that all CATAI’S internal controls and other financial procedures are adhered to and fully implemented
  • Ensure that all CATAI’s NHF financial transactions (bank, cash, accruals) are properly recorded in accordance with CATAI’s policy
  • Maintain an inventory list of all office equipment and fixed assets
  • Ensure compliance with CATAI finance policies, standards, procedures, and government Tax requirements
  • Ensure that the requirements of the Donors are followed
  • Ensure that all accounting operations (Both CATAI and Partner) are submitted, reviewed, and entered into QUICKBOOKS promptly
  • Ensure the branches have the necessary equipment and tools for bookkeeping/accounting.
  • Assist indisseminating features and policies including the anti-corruption and fraud policies to the branches and the project staff.

Manage all payments made, including:

  • Verification of the accuracy and appropriateness of invoices and other documents provided for payments
  • Ensure that all relevant supporting documents are in place and that all CATAI policies and regulations have been followed
  • Ensure payments reach the beneficiaries
  • Record all bank transactions made in the accounting system provided
  • Inform Project Managers and Partner Staff of specific donor regulations for procurement, distribution, and reporting
  • Ensure that CATAI and Partner books and records, insofar as they relate to donor-funded projects, are kept in accordance with donor requirements
  • Produce accurate and up-to-date reports using required formats
  • Ensures that the cash count is made at the end of every month (or as determined by the FM)
  • Management of advances to staff (ensure that advances are accounted for over time and that no double advances are issued)
  • Classification – Ensure that all financial documents are stamped “PAID” and classified in accordance with CATAI’s financial policies and practice

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Finance / Accounts or equivalent experience
  • ACA / MBA / CA, ICAN, ANAN or equivalent is a plus
  • Minimum of three (3) years accounting
  • Strong technical experience in book-keeping, accounting, and financial management
  • Understanding of accounting issues in the charity/NGO sector.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in the English language

2.) Consortium Manager

Location: Borno

Our Offer

  • Duty Station: Maiduguri
  • Contract Duration: 12 months (3 Month Probation)
  • Travel: up to 20% across project locations.
  • Salary / benefits: According to CATAI Grade 7 salary scale, terms and conditions.

3.) Protection Officer

Location: Borno

Job Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and equivalent in any Social Sciences-related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in the area of general protection with an NGO, displacement, including experience in working directly with Field Offices.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of DO NO HARM principles and established international child protection standards.
  • Strong ability to work independently, organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to details.
  • Experience working in emergency settings (deep field), particularly in Northeast Nigeria and good knowledge of key stakeholders in the area are desirable.
  • Good knowledge of protection and Human Rights Law and ability to apply the relevant protection principles. Excellent legal research, analytical skills and drafting.

4.) Education Officer

Location: Borno

Job Essentials

  • B.Sc / BA /B.Ed HND/NCE in Education, Social Sciences, or equivalent field experience
  • At least 3 years of program experience, education in humanitarian education programs various experience in capacity building/training facilitation is desirable.
  • Ability to adapt and work effectively in remote areas, and a challenging work environment with minimal direct supervision.
  • Willingness to work flexibly and professionally in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.

Key Competencies:

  • Understanding the education context in northeastern Nigeria, with specific experience in Borno state preferred.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Do-No Harm principles and established International child protection standards.
  • Experience mobilizing communities and interacting with government, coordination and, LGE.
  • Experience with non-formal and formal education and mainstreaming.
  • Experience implementing the NHF/the ECHO project is an added advantage.
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Fluency in English, and local language both written and oral is required.
