The BVN was launched in 2014 and it’s still in use today. Once a bank customer enrols for one, a unique 11-digit number is assigned to that customer that’s used to identify that customer for life. With the BVN banks can tighten their security systems as it’ll be harder for fraudsters to impersonate (identify theft) people and steal their money due to the biometric system that’s used in creating the BVN.

How to get BVN number

In this section, I’ll be teaching you how to enrol or get a BVN number. To get your own unique 11-digit BVN number, follow the instructions outlined below:

  • Select and visit a preferred Nigeria bank
  • Upon arriving at the bank, request for a BVN formJAMB Result
  • Fill out the form and submit it according to the rules of the bank
  • You’ll be asked to provide necessary biometric data such as your fingerprints, facial capture, signature, etc.How Do I Find My NIN Number Using Tracking ID?
  • Once you are done with that, you’ll receive an acknowledgement slip carrying your ID
  • In 24 to 48 hours, your BVN will be sent to the number used in registering or enrolling for the BVN.

However, if you have already enrolled for your BVN but you no longer have access to it, you can easily retrieve it by dialling *565*0# using the number used in registering for the BVN. Once you dial that code your BVN will be displayed on your screen.
