How to enroll for the Bank Verification Number (BVN)

To enroll for the Bank Verification Number in Nigeria, follow the procedures below:

  • Step 1: Visit any bank branch in Nigeria
  • Step 2: Fill and complete the BVN enrolment form
  • Step 3: After submitting the enrolment form, your biometric data (fingerprint, signature, and photograph) will be captured
  • Step 4: After Successful biometric capturing, you’ll receive a Ticket ID
  • Step 5: Your Bank Verification Number (BVN) will be sent to your registered phone numberHow to read forex chart

Note: If you already have a Bank Verification Number (BVN), all you have to do is link your BVN with the new Bank account.

How to Link your BVN to other Bank Accounts

Every individual is entitled to one BVN number. Hence, when opening another bank account, you will be required to link your Bank Verification Number to the new account before you can proceed. To link your BVN number to your new account, follow the steps below:

  • Step 1: Login to your Internet banking account
  • Step 2: Navigate to BVN Linker, and click on it
  • Step 3: Click on “New request”
  • Step 4: Enter your BVN number
  • Step 5: Select the Bank where your BVN was issued to you

You can link your BVN Number via ATM

  • Step 1: Insert your new ATM card into the ATM machine
  • Step 2: Enter your 4 digit password

  • Step 4: Click on “BVN Link”
  • Step 5: Now enter your 11 digit BVN number
  • Step 6: Click on submitWAEC result

How to Check your BVN number

If you have misplaced or forgotten your Bank Verification number, you can get it back easily using your registered phone number. To check your BVN number using your registered phone number, simply dial *565*0# and your BVN number will be displayed on your screen. This USSD code for checking your BVN number is valid for all network providers in Nigeria, and for all Banking institutions within the country.
