Types of NYSC Certificates

There are three (3) main types of certificates issued to Nigerian graduates by the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC. These certificates include:How to log in JAMB Portal

  1. Discharge Certificate: The discharge certificate also known as Certificate of National Service is issued to Nigerian graduates who have completed the one (1) year National Youth Service programme.Npower recruitment
  2. Certificate of Exemption: This certificate is issued to Nigerian graduates who have exceeded the age of 30 years. In addition, graduates who have served at least one year in Nigeria military or paramilitary are also issued this certificate. In some cases, graduates with physical challenges and limitations are also issued the certificate of Exemption to allow them skip the National Service programme.WAEC result
  3. Exclusion Letter: This type of certificate is usually issued to part-time graduates, graduates of College of Education, and graduates of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

Requirements for the Replacement of NYSC Certificates

The following documents will be required to replace your NYSC certificate:

  • Completed application form
  • Introduction letter from State of Service
  • Police Report for the loss NYSC certificate
  • Court Affidavit
  • Copy of lost Certificate
  • A letter of notification/request through the graduated Institution addressed to the Director-General, NYSC. For home-trained Nigerian graduates
  • A letter of notification/request addressed to the Director-General, NYSC. For Foreign-trained graduates
  • Photocopy of International passport, for foreign-trained graduatesJAMB form

How to Apply for a New NYSC Certificate

To apply for Replacement of NYSC certificate, follow the procedures below:

  • Step 1: Visit the nearest National Youth Service Corps State Secretariat
  • Step 2: Inform the NYSC attendant that you wish to apply for a replacement of your NYSC certificate
  • Step 3: An application form for the Collection/Replacement of NYSC certificate will be issued to you from the relevant department
  • Step 4: Fill out the form correctly with the appropriate information and attest it with your signature when you’re done
  • Step 5: Attach the required documents to your application form. (The list of required documents has been listed above)
  • Step 6: Submit the form to the relevant authority at the NYSC office.
  • Step 7: You will be required to make the stipulated payment for the procedure as directed by the NYSC officials.
  • Step 8: After making the payment, your application form will be forwarded for examination and verification process.
  • Step 9: Once the verification and validation process are completed, your application will be approved and the NYSC official will begin the required steps needed to issue the certificate to you
