The Individual
The following requirements are essential:
- Proven commitment to and expertise in advancing Plan International’s Purpose to advance children’s rights and equality for girls (in all their diversity), gender equality, diversity and inclusion .
- Ability to think critically and to research and analyse complex information.
- Ability to assess risks, issues and opportunities with a high degree of coherence and clarity to solve complex problems and innovate.
- Experience of planning and prioritisation of external global engagement initiatives, projects and work programmes to achieve quality outcomes and benefits within agreed timelines.
- Strong background in public affairs, advocacy, government relations or other similar field – expert understanding of and ability to navigate global political environment
- Strong project management skills and the ability to report and resolve risks, issues and dependencies.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and strength in forming relationships and supporting colleagues to deliver on their commitments within corporate policies, values and established good practice.
- High degree of cultural sensitivity within a global context.
- Ability to communicate with clarity and effectiveness to different audiences, using a range of media.
- Experience of providing professional advice and guidance to leaders within an organisation of comparable complexity.
- Staff management and motivation skills.
- Business administration and/or project management qualifications
- Experience of working within a global organisation.

Location: Nigeria
Essential
- An Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree in Climate Change, International Development, Environment, Development or equivalent knowledge or experience gained in other ways
- Substantive experience of working on climate change, children’s rights and gender equality at the global level within an NGO, UN agency, government department, or other relevant institution. Experience of producing high quality evidence-based policy positions and briefings
- Substantive experience in resource mobilization for Climate
- Experience of policy analysis, policy development, providing policy advice and translating policy into clear recommendations and messages for advocacy and campaigning
- Experience of external representation and relationship-building at a high level with strategic stakeholders
- Experience of delivering advocacy strategies on climate change, children’s rights and/or gender equality in a national and/or international context using a variety of approaches
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the United Nations international human rights system and institutions (i.e. UN treaty monitoring bodies, Special Procedures) (desirable)
- Experience of working with multilateral and global climate funds
Skills:
- Excellent fluent oral and written communication skills in English for a variety of internal and external audiences (essential)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to manage multiple demands, meet deadlines and prioritize workload
- Excellent people skills, able to work in a collaborative and supportive way with colleagues in all regions where Plan International works, in a multi-cultural environment and across different time zones
- Able to build effective relationships for influence
- Able to develop clear evidence-based messages and recommendations
- Facilitation and consultation skills, able to gather and integrate feedback into policy analysis, position papers, and advocacy planning
- Keen attention to detail
- Skilled and confident user of office applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and calendar applications
- Knowledge of French and/or Spanish (desirable)

3.) Deployment Manager
Location: Nigeria
Technical Expertise, Skills and Knowledge
Essential:
- Experience of DRM roster management and / or resource management in a global organisation at management level, and of driving innovations or improvements
- Experience of statistical modelling and analysis, and of using analysis to derive insights and drive decisions and actions
- Experience of navigating organizational complexity, including structures and decision-making processes, and of influencing others to deliver results
- Strong project management experience
- Knowledge of the INGO environment, ideally in relation to both humanitarian and development contexts.
- Ideally, experience of working in the global south
- Superb interpersonal skills – the ability to collaborate with teams both inside and outside the organisation and to build trust across different cultures and geographies.
- Strong financial understanding and budget management.
- Understanding of the use of IT systems in DRM roster management / resource management, and the ability to work with IT specialists on system development/ enhancements
- Be humble, appreciative and solutions-orientated.
- Models Plan International’s values, behaviours and feminist leadership principles
- Strong rational and emotional intelligence, with resilience in the face of pushback and resistance to new ideas and ways of doing things.
- Ideally, proficient in a language or languages other than English – especially French, Spanish, Arabic.
