Yemi Eberechi Alade is one of the most successful artiste in Nigeria and also one of the leading female artists in Africa.
She is a prolific dancer and singer whose melodies are vastly celebrated across Africa. She is an energetic dancer who captivates viewers whenever she mounts the stage with her band.

The beautiful singer is fluent in Igbo, Yoruba and french. Yemi is the fifth of seven children. She has four brothers and three sisters.
Her primary education started at Saint Saviour’s British primary school Lagos before she proceeded to the Victory Grammar School, Lagos for her secondary education. She finally bagged a degree in geography from the university of Lagos.
Yemi Alade started singing quite early at the age of twelve when she joined her church choir, she sang and danced at various competitions while growing up as a child.
She also amidst that she grew up listening to popular music of the early nineties and late eighties and this helped to spike her interest in music.
The singer grew up moving around different states in Nigeria due to the nature of her late father’s job as a police officer but she spent most of her childhood years in Lagos state.
In 2005, her music career began officially with an all girl group called”Noty Spices” which was short lived. She entered for the peak talent show in 2009 and emerged as the winner; the show shot her into limelight and became a stepping stone to the elevation of her career.
After the show, she released a single titled “Fimisile” featuring Eldee the Don under the Jus’ Kidding music label. In 2012, she signed with her current music label effizzy music group which is co owned by her manager, Taye Aliyu.

In 2013, she released “Bambo” which further gained her more popularity and later in the same year, she released “Johnny” which was produced by Selebobo.
The song was inspired by Wizkid’s play boy anthem “Caro”, and till date it remains Yemi’s most popular hit as it dominated music charts in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
The popular demand for “Johnny”inspired Yemi to do a French version of the song for fans in French speaking countries.
She teamed up with extremely talented and celebrated Nigerian cinematographer and famous director, Clarence Peters to make a video for the song starring the handsome Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo as “Johnny”.
The video recorded over fifty two million views on YouTube but as July 2017, it turned out with seventy million views and automatically became the first video by an African woman with a massive number views on YouTube.
In October 2014, Alade released her debut album which was titled “King of Queens” and immediately toured Africa with it, with this album, she totally captured Africans by collaborating with their favourite artistes and by singing in French, Swahili and portraying their culture through dance and costumes to communicate their cultural values and heritage and it greatly delighted them. This further broadened her brand and commercial value.
Her second album “Mama Africa” was released in march 2016. The album which is referred to as the diary of an African woman is an integration of African culture; Yemi Alade once again, penetrated Africa by communicating and expressing cultural values through music. It also features different artists across Africa and appealed to fans in almost every African country.
On 2014, Yemi Alade joined her colleagues in the industry : WAJE, M.I Abaga, Timi Dakolo in singing the theme song for the UNESCO world book capital as part of the project of igniting the passion in young people to read and gain education.
Yemi is single and keeps her relationships private. People have insinuated that she dated Alex Ekubo who is fondly referred to as “Johnny”, there were also rumors that She is currently dating her manager Taye Aliyu.This singer has however not come out to debunk or refute these claims.
