  • Experience working in humanitarian contexts, particularly protracted humanitarian contexts.
  • Relevant experience in programme development in child protection-related areas in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.

  • Fluency in English is required. Has a basic knowledge and can speak one or two of the local languages common to the Northeast, Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.

  • Proven ability to work independently under difficult conditions, including in protracted conflict environments
  • Experience working with community structures and/or religious groups and leaders at the grass root level on prevention and response to GBV, including survivors of conflict-related sexual violence
  • Proven experience in developing proposals and budgets for resource mobilization, partnership management and writing donor reports

3.) Consultancy for Management of Programmes on Equitable Access to Quality Education

Location: Abuja

Qualifications
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:

  • An Advanced University Degree (Master’s or Higher) in Education Development, Education Policy, Social Policy, International Relations, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in education programming, documentation, and reporting.
  • A minimum of 3 years of working experience with using education data to inform evidence-based decision-making to develop strategies for out-of-school children/adolescents.
  • Strong knowledge of the Nigerian context and understanding of international development issues, including issues around alternative pathways to learning global best practices and out-of-school children in Nigeria.

Other Skills and Attributes:

  • Experience working with UN agencies or other international development agencies.
  • A good understanding of UNICEF’s programmatic areas.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with experience translating evidence for and communicating with a broad range of actors (including government) on sensitive issues.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience engaging key stakeholders and partners at multiple levels of the education system (e.g., national/state level decision-makers, teachers); working knowledge of key education strategies, priorities and approaches, including the UNICEF Education Strategy (2019-2030), FLN, non-formal education, alternative learning pathways, adolescent skills development, etc.; excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to adjust messaging for various audiences.

Behavioural skills:

9.) Consultant – Situation Analysis on Alternative Pathways and Distance Learning in Nigeria

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, implementing and/or evaluating education programs related to alternative learning pathways (e.g., non-formal education, remote learning).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in conducting studies and surveys on education and developing policy recommendations and strategy papers.
  • Strong understanding of the current issues and phenomenon on out-of-school children in the sub-Saharan Africa is required.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

Other Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge of the Nigerian education context around OOSC and alternative learning pathways is an asset.
  • Ability to present ideas and communicate evidence and advice concisely to diverse audiences (including government) is an asset.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in the development, planning and management of social development programmes, including several years in developing countries, with practical experience in the adaptation and application of communication planning processes to specific programmes.

Language Proficiency:

  • Fluency in English and a second UN language (IP)
  • Fluency in English and the local working language of the duty station (NO).
