Buhari Declares Total War On Bandits

The President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari has declared war on bandits causing havoc in the country.

THIS DAY reports that President Buhari was reacting to the killing of over 40 people by bandits at Goronyo market, in Sokoto State. Information Guide Nigeria

According to THIS DAY, President Buhari said, “The clock of your ultimate destruction is ticking as you will no longer have a place to hide.”

THIS DAY reports that according to a release by president Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, President Buhari said, “The days of the bandits are, indeed, numbered, because the military capabilities of our forces are being boosted by the acquisition and deployment of advanced equipment.”

“The bandits are living in the fool’s paradise of invincibility, but reality will soon dawn on them harder than ever before.

“The bandits are currently under desperate pressures, because of the intense and sustained air and ground operations against them in their hideouts by our security forces.

“The cowardly attacks on innocent people by the bandits show a rearguard action of criminals under pressure. But they will have no place to hide and our gallant security forces will not relent in the current offensive to defeat these callous enemies of humanity.”

THIS DAY reports that the president has counselled the Nigerian media on the need to report accurately on issues of security and safety by replacing the usage of phrases, like “rising insecurity”, with “declining insecurity”.

Reacting to the killing, the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State called on the Nigeria Army to carry out coordinated operations in the North-west to help expose banditry in the region.

The president advised Nigerians to remain calm adding that the military is working on how to eliminate the bandits. Jamb Result

He also sympathized with the families of the victims of the Goronyo attack.
