Hayes, a five-time WSL champion, informed her supporters in a statement that she would “need time and patience to return to full health”

Hayes stated, “I know you’ll respect that my health comes first and at this time I’ve got to prioritise what I need to do for me,”

In Hayes’ absence, assistant manager Denise Reddy will lead the reigning Women’s Super League champions, while general manager Paul Green will handle media relations.
