Manchester United wants to sign De Jong and, now, has spent over 80 days working to bring the Netherlands international to Old Trafford. It’s been a prolonged saga and, though the Red Devils have agreed on a fee with Barcelona, the midfielder is yet to jump ship.
According to De Telegraaf, De Jong’s agent Ali Dursun is working on an exit for his client – even though the 25-year-old’s preference is to stay at his current club. And he’s told Barcelona that a ‘new club is ready’ for his player.
This likely refers to United, who are ready to pay an overall fee of £72million in order to bring De Jong to the Premier League.
Meanwhile, speaking recently, former Red Devils ace Luke Chadwick said his old side signing De Jong would ‘put a marker down’.
“Money shouldn’t be an issue, as Richard Arnold said in the video, so they need to pay what it takes because he’s a player they need,” he said.JAMB Result
