Manchester United hoping to follow proven Chelsea example as they search for new manager

It will be important to note that Manchester United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the weekend following the 4-1 humbling at the hands of Watford.
Former midfielder Michael Carrick was then handed the reins on a caretaker basis, whilst the club launched their search for an interim boss to take them until the end of the season when they will hope to find a permanent successor for the Norwegian.

Manchester United’s appointment of an interim coach appears far more likely if reports are to be believed.
According to The Telegraph, the Red Devils have a five-man shortlist of those under consideration for the role.
These include the likes of Ralf Ragnick, ex-Barcelona man Ernesto Valverde, Lucien Favre, Rudi Garcia, and another as-yet-unnamed fifth option.
The report has it that it is suggested that the Red Devils are hopeful of the team experiencing a similar ‘bounce’ to that of the tenures of Guus Hiddink and Rafa Benitez in west London.
The Dutchman has overseen two caretaker spells with Chelsea following the departures of Luiz Felipe Scolari and Jose Mourinho and has certainly stabilised the club after tumultuous periods.
