Marina Granovskaia could change Chelsea transfer plans by making surprise £18m Everton move
Thomas Tuchel is still trying to find the best solution to cope without influential wing-back Ben Chilwell.
The England man sustained an ACL injury last month and is expected to be sidelined for several months.
Marcos Alonso has been featuring in his place, but the erratic nature of his performances have reminded Blues fans why the Spaniard has struggled to cement a consistent role in the Chelsea first-team across his five years at the club. infoguidenigeria
It’ll therefore be interesting to see whether the potential availability of Everton left-back Lucas Digne could entice Chelsea to make a shock swoop this January.
Digne’s been a less prominent figure for Everton this season though, registering no goals or assists, something that’s largely been a consequence of his change in role under manager Rafael Benitez.
The recent report from football.london has it that the Everton boss was clearly unimpressed with Digne confronting him, and the 28-year-old was left out of the matchday squad for each of the Toffees last three league matches, including the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, although Benitez confirmed in his press conference before that game that Digne had ruled himself out of the clash, stating he was ill.

“Yesterday we did a training session and he (Digne) was in the 11. Today he said he is ill and is not available.”
Reading between the lines, it seems as though Digne likely opted to declare himself unavailable for the clash in protest of the cold treatment he has received from Benitez across the past two weeks. jamb result
It’s also more than likely that Digne will be keen to leave Everton as long as Benitez remains in charge.
Additionally, Benitez himself has proven in the past that he’s uncompromising when it comes to shutting out players he believes have crossed him – the Spaniard wasted no time in pushing out James Rodriguez this summer shortly after arriving.
It’s looking increasingly likely then that Digne could be available for a surprise transfer in January, and this is where Chelsea could potentially step in and profit.
Chelsea could well snap the Frenchman up for a reasonable fee given the context of his issues at Goodison, and he could be the perfect stop-gap for the Blues whilst they wait for Chilwell to undertake his rehabilitation and get back up to match fitness.
