McAtee was chosen as the winner by a panel of the Premier League Football Development Department ahead of seven other nominees: Conor Bradley (Liverpool), Tom Dickson-Peters (Norwich), Sonny Hilton (Fulham), Abu Kamara (Norwich), Dilan Markanday (Tottenham Hotspur), Kazeem Olaigbe (Southampton) and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi (Crystal Palace).
