Robert Lewandowski’s complicated Barcelona contract’s finer points have come to light, notably the striker’s mind-boggling €500 million (£431 million) release clause.
Lewandowski, 34, was lured away from Bayern Munich by Barcelona earlier this summer after the club pursued him for several months and eventually agreed to a £42.5 million deal.Information Guide Nigeria

Next season, that sum is expected to increase to €13 million (£11.2 million), and then the following year, it will increase once more to €16 million (£13.8 million). In the following season of the four-year contract, Lewandowski’s net compensation is scheduled to return to the former €13 million amount.
Barcelona can, however, choose to end the veteran’s contract in its last year if he appears in fewer than 55% of the team’s matches in the previous season.
Lewandowski is eligible to receive large bonus payments if Barcelona wins the La Liga or Champions League during his time at the Nou Camp, or a combination of the two together with the Copa del Rey. There are also a number of other incentives included in the contract.
