Security Men to Escort Firefighters During Operations- Minister of Interior

Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola yesterday said that men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) would henceforth be escorted by firefighters during emergency operations across the country to avoid unnecessary attack by hoodlums.

He said this during the commissioning of a firefighting truck in Calabar by the incumbent Governor of Cross River, Ben Ayade

According to him, Civil Defence have been employed to accompany firefighters emergency squad. They will be armed so anybody who dares to attack them will pay dearly for it.

He further warned the people to be careful as they are to secure every ground of emergency.

He also said that some people use flimsy excuses to damage and attack firefighters trucks alongside with its personnel thus, making it difficult for them to carry out their assignments.

He urged communities to be the first people to defend firefighters and also stand up to own the firefighting equipment in order to save lives and property. jamb results

“They should be the first line of defence in the face of attacks from vandals, hoodlums, unruly armed elements and must not allow those characters own the space because at the end of the day they will be the ones to suffer for lack of response”.
