Thomas Tuchel reveals why contract standoff has cost Andreas Christensen starting Chelsea role
Thomas Tuchel admits Andreas Christensen hasn’t featured in the last three Chelsea games in an attempt to influence the defender’s contract standoff with the club. infoguidenigeria
The Denmark international has blossomed into one of Europe’s most complete centre-backs since the appointment of the German coach in January but his current deal at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of the season.
It is understood Chelsea felt they had agreed terms with Christensen’s representative over a new five-year contract in August. However, nothing was signed and a dispute then arose over the length of the proposed deal and the representative’s commission. jamb result

An impasse has followed and while there remains an expectation at Stamford Bridge that the academy graduate will commit his long-term future to Chelsea, the reality is that from January Christensen can speak to European clubs over a move away next summer.
Tuchel does not want that to happen and the Chelsea head coach has urged the 25-year-old to prove he is happy at Stamford Bridge by finally signing a new contract.
“I have no good news,” Tuchel admitted at his press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League clash against Watford at Vicarage Road.
