While everything was going on, a photo that was going around on social media claimed to show an Atletico Madrid fan holding up a racist doll in reference to the Brazilian striker that everyone else was insulting.

As Atletico Madrid fans celebrated Rodrygo’s first-half score, they reportedly continued the appalling abuse by taunting Vinicius and Rodrygo inside the stadium.

On social media, rumors circulated that the abuse wasn’t just coming from the ultras but from a broader group of people.

The club had encouraged its followers on social media before the game to not “disrespect” opponent players, and reports from within the stadium reportedly stated that a tannoy message was made in regard to the abuse being directed towards the Brazilian forward.

Carlo Ancelotti in his pre-derby press conference revealed the incident had not been discussed within the confines of the Real Madrid dressing room.
